Research Interests
Our daily lives change due to unpredictable events such as natural disasters, advancements in science and technology, and the rise of AI, some of which are beyond our understanding.
These events deeply affect our lives in both positive and negative ways.
The primary goal of our laboratory is to explore how people overcome and coexist with these changes.
We address a wide range of topics, from individual cognition to societal trends, aiming to elucidate the hierarchical dynamics of the mind and society.
We employ various methodologies such as psychological experiments and surveys, natural language processing, brain imaging (such as fMRI), and physiological response measurements (such as SCR and pupil responses).
Currently, we are focusing on themes such as the structure and function of awe (emotional responses to stimuli that are beyond understanding, like nature and the universe),
the emergent processes of narratives (how story-like information converges people's cognition), and the relationships between religiosity/spirituality and political attitudes.
